Connect HummingDeck to Attio

Connect Attio to HummingDeck, add document and room engagement notes to person records, and set up the HummingDeck analytics tab.

Examples use sample data. Available controls may vary by plan, role, and product version.

Before you connect

Plan: Pro and abovePermission: Owner or admin

You need a HummingDeck Pro or Business workspace, a verified HummingDeck email, and permission to manage both workspaces. A HummingDeck owner or admin starts setup; an Attio workspace admin approves the connection.

Each HummingDeck workspace can have one active engagement CRM. If Close is connected, disconnect it before connecting Attio. Other integrations, such as Slack and Zapier, can stay connected.

Connect your Attio workspace

  1. In HummingDeck, open Workspace → Integrations → Attio and select Connect Attio. You can also start from the Attio integration page.
  2. In Attio, select the workspace you want to connect and approve access.
  3. After returning to HummingDeck, check that the connected Attio workspace name is correct.

HummingDeck reads Attio records to match engagement to existing people and, when you enable notes, writes visit summaries to those records.

Add engagement notes

Add new document views and room visits as notes on matching Attio Person records.

Syncs new activity after you turn it on. Existing Attio notes stay when sync is off.

Add engagement notes

Turn on Add engagement notes on the Attio integration page. New eligible room visits and document views are then logged on the matching person record in Attio.

A room visit gets one note containing the tabs and documents visited and the time measured. A document opened independently gets its own note. HummingDeck updates the same note periodically as more activity arrives during the visit, so a long visit stays together. A new visit gets a new note.

Notes start with new activity after you enable the setting. To explore earlier retained activity, use the HummingDeck tab.

You can add your own follow-up notes alongside these summaries. If HummingDeck detects an edit to a generated note's title or text, it stops updating that note. Deleting a generated note does not cause it to be recreated.

Set up the HummingDeck tab

The tab shows detailed document and room analytics on Attio person records. An admin connects it once for the workspace; teammates can then view the shared engagement without individual HummingDeck accounts.

  1. In HummingDeck's Attio integration page, choose Document views, Room visits, or both under Activity to share. Switch on HummingDeck tab in Attio.
  2. In Attio, open Workspace settings → Apps → HummingDeck. If the app is not installed, install it using the HummingDeck app link supplied for your workspace. During the private pilot, contact Support for an invite link.
  3. Under Workspace connection, select Connect. Sign in to HummingDeck, select the HummingDeck workspace you connected in the previous section, and approve Connect workspace. The HummingDeck and Attio workspace pair must match.
  4. Return to HummingDeck and check for Workspace connection active.
  5. Open a person record in Attio. Use Configure page to add the HummingDeck tab or change its position.

The Attio connection in HummingDeck is required for both features. The Workspace connection in Attio additionally authorizes the tab to read your selected analytics. You can leave Add engagement notes off when using only the tab.

What the tab shows

The timeline groups activity by date. Expand a room visit to see its tab visits and document sessions. Document views show reading time, pages, and completion where those measurements are available.

The default period is 30 days. Choose 7, 30, or 90 days, or All for retained history. The tab includes eligible activity from before sharing was enabled: Pro retains 90 days of analytics, and Business retains all history. Select Refresh to fetch current activity and use the paging controls for older visits.

Enabling Document views shares eligible engagement for both private and team-shared documents in the HummingDeck workspace. The tab shares engagement details, not document contents. Links to full HummingDeck analytics require HummingDeck access.

How activity is matched

HummingDeck matches the recorded viewer email to an existing person record in Attio. Use a link that collects an email, including a verified-email access mode, when you need activity associated with the viewer's recorded identity.

When no viewer email is recorded, a Personal link can associate activity with its intended recipient. That describes use of the recipient's link; a forwarded link can be opened by someone else. A recorded viewer email takes precedence over the link recipient.

Automatic notes require one matching person record. If the email is missing from Attio or matches more than one record, resolve the match before testing a new visit. Bot visits are excluded from synced engagement. See Privacy, security, and tracking for how HummingDeck records activity.

Check your setup

  1. Choose an existing person record in Attio with a known email address.
  2. Share a HummingDeck document or room using a Personal link for that email, or collect that email when the visitor opens the link.
  3. Open the link as the recipient, visit a few room tabs, and read a document.
  4. Check the person's notes after a short delay. If the tab is enabled, open HummingDeck, select Refresh, and expand the visit to check its documents and measured activity.

Change or disconnect

Notes and tab sharing are independent. Switch off Add engagement notes to stop future note delivery. Existing Attio notes remain.

To change the tab's activity categories, select your choices and use Save activity choices. Then reconnect the Workspace connection in Attio to authorize the new selection. Switching off HummingDeck tab in Attio revokes that connection's access to HummingDeck analytics.

Disconnect on HummingDeck's Attio page stops the CRM connection and tab access. Your HummingDeck documents, rooms, links, and analytics remain. After reconnecting, review the settings and enable the features you want to use again.

Troubleshooting

What you seeWhat to check
Connect Attio is unavailableConfirm your plan, owner/admin role, verified email, and whether another CRM is connected.
The HummingDeck tab is missingConfirm the app is installed in the intended Attio workspace, then add the tab through the person record's Configure page.
Engagement unavailableCheck that tab sharing is enabled and the Attio Workspace connection uses the same HummingDeck and Attio workspace pair. Reconnect it after changing activity choices.
The tab is emptyCheck the person's email, selected period, and shared activity categories. Personal links must use the intended recipient's email; other links need a recorded viewer email.
A room visit has no document detailsCheck that both Document views and Room visits are enabled. If you change these choices, save them, reconnect the Attio Workspace connection, and refresh the tab.
A note has not appearedConfirm Add engagement notes is on, the visit began after it was enabled, and the email matches one existing person. Allow time for delivery and check a new visit.

If the issue continues, contact Support with the workspace names, the affected person record, and the approximate visit time.
