Corporate email security scanners can open links before recipients do and create automated activity in analytics. HummingDeck uses multiple signals to flag known or likely scanner sessions. This reduces noise, but no filtering method can prove that every remaining event is human.
How our three-layer detection works
User-agent matching
Compares user agents with a maintained set of known crawler, headless-browser, and link-preview patterns. This can flag recognizable automated traffic, but user agents can be spoofed.
Datacenter IP detection
Checks whether traffic comes from hosting-provider networks commonly used by automated services. This is one signal, not proof that a session is automated.
Gesture-based activity signal
Looks for mouse, touch, keyboard, and scroll activity after page load. These signals can help distinguish interactive sessions, but synthetic or absent gestures are not definitive proof.
