Chapters
Before you start
- You need a HummingDeck account on Pro or Business to create a Proposal link and collect responses.
- Prepare your proposal as a PDF, PowerPoint, Word, or Excel file up to 100 MB. Finalize the file before creating a Proposal link: document replacement is unavailable while a Proposal link remains active.
- The video uses access through Anyone with the link. For access through an approved, verified inbox, choose Restricted. A Personal or Proposal link associates activity with its intended recipient; an open URL can be forwarded.
Follow the steps
Upload your proposal
Open your Library, choose Add document, and upload the proposal. Wait for processing to finish, then open it and check that the pages are ready to share.
Create a Proposal link
Choose New link and select the Proposal tab. Add your client's name and email to label the link. Set the response buttons to appear On last page, keep Notify me when viewed on, and select Generate Link. Proposal links require Pro or Business.
Send the link to your client
Copy the URL into an email or chat message. Adding the recipient's details does not send it automatically. With Anyone with the link, your client can open the proposal in their browser without a HummingDeck account. The response buttons appear on the last page in the setup shown.
Review opens and page activity
Use the view notification as a prompt to check the proposal's Analytics. Compare recorded opens and Page Engagement to see which pages received activity. Recorded time can inform a follow-up question; it does not establish agreement or reading comprehension. Pro and Business also support Slack view notifications.
Check your client's response
Your client can choose Accept, Changes, or Decline and submit a response. A Changes response can include a note. The response email includes the decision, the note, and a summary of recorded proposal engagement.
Inspect the audit trail
Return to Links to find the decision beside the proposal link. Open its audit trail to review the recorded respondent, response time, and device. This is a recorded proposal response, not a legal signature. Use a signing workflow when a legal signature is required.

00:00See who opened your proposal
You've sent a proposal, and now you wait. Here's how to track proposal opens: see who opened it, which pages they read, and how they responded.
00:12Upload your proposal
In HummingDeck, open your Library and choose Add document. Upload your proposal; PDF, PowerPoint, Word and Excel all work. When processing finishes, open the document. This one has five pages.
00:29Create a proposal link
Proposal links are available on Pro and Business. Click New link, then choose the Proposal tab. Add Sarah's name and email. These details label the link; they don't send her anything. Next, choose when her response buttons appear. We'll pick On last page, so she reads before she responds. Leave Notify me when viewed on, then click Generate Link.
00:56Send it to your client
Copy the link and send it by email or chat. It's her link, so every view and every response belongs to Sarah.
01:06What your client sees
Here's what Sarah sees. She opens the link in her browser, with no HummingDeck account, and reads through. On the last page, the response buttons appear: Accept, Changes, or Decline.
01:20Get notified when it's opened
The moment she opens the link, you get an email. Because Notify me when viewed was on, it names the viewer and shows her device. On Pro and Business, Notify via Slack sends an alert to Slack too.
01:36See what she read
To see who opened it and what she read, open Analytics. Sarah's link has three opens. Page Engagement shows where her time went. Here, the pricing page has the most recorded time, a good topic for your follow-up.
01:52Her response
Then Sarah responds. She clicks Changes, adds a note, and submits. You get a second email with her decision, her note, and a summary of how she read the proposal.
02:08The decision and audit trail
Back on the Links tab, her decision sits next to her link. Open the audit trail to see who responded, when, and from which device. It's a recorded response, not a legal signature.
02:22Try it with your own proposal
Send your next proposal this way, and know what happens next. Try it with your own proposal using the link below.
