Chapters
Before you start
- You need a HummingDeck account and a .pptx file up to 100 MB. Save an older .ppt file as .pptx before uploading it. Check the converted browser preview because fonts and layout can differ from PowerPoint, and animations and transitions do not play.
- The Personal link shown uses Anyone with the link. Recipients can open it in a browser without PowerPoint or a HummingDeck account. The name and email label the intended recipient's link; an open link can be forwarded, so its activity does not verify who used it.
- Detailed slide analytics start on Starter. The video uses a Starter workspace; the optional custom-domain and API screens require Business, with API access enabled for the workspace.
Follow the steps
Upload and check the presentation
In your Library, choose Add document, select the .pptx file, and click Upload. Wait for HummingDeck to finish processing it. Open the preview and inspect every converted slide before sharing, especially fonts and layout. The browser preview is static, so animations and transitions do not play.
Create a Personal link
Open the presentation and choose New link. Keep Personal Link selected and leave access on Anyone with the link for the workflow shown. Enter the recipient's name and email, then choose Generate Link. Those details label the link; HummingDeck does not email the recipient for you.
Send the link and check the recipient view
Copy the generated URL into your own email or message. The recipient can open it in a browser, expand the viewer, and move through the slides without PowerPoint or a HummingDeck account. Test the link in a separate browser before sending it, and account for your test visits when reviewing views.
Review recorded views and slide activity
Return to the presentation's Links tab to see the Personal link's recorded view count. Open Analytics and inspect Page Engagement to see the time recorded on each slide. The video shows the delivery timeline with the most recorded time. This activity belongs to the link and can guide a follow-up question; it does not prove that the intended recipient read the deck or wants to buy. Detailed slide analytics require Starter or above.
Continue with a Room if you have more files
To send the presentation together with a proposal or case study, add those documents to a HummingDeck Room and share one Room link. Each document opens separately. The related file-sharing tutorial below walks through creating and sharing a Room.

00:00Share a PowerPoint as a link
Want to share a PowerPoint presentation as a link? HummingDeck hosts your finished presentation, gives you a link to send, and records how it's viewed. This is a HummingDeck walkthrough, using sample documents.
00:14Upload and check the slides
In your Library, choose Add document. PDF, PowerPoint, Word, Excel and HTML files all work. Select your PowerPoint file and click Upload. HummingDeck converts it for the browser. When it's ready, open the preview and check your slides. It's a static preview, so animations and transitions don't play.
00:40Create Sarah's link
Now click New link. Keep Personal Link selected, and leave access on Anyone with the link. Add Sarah's name and email. They label the link; HummingDeck doesn't email her. Then click Generate Link and copy it into your message. Sarah gets a viewing link to your presentation.
01:01Sarah opens it in the browser
Sarah opens the link in her browser. She doesn't need PowerPoint or a HummingDeck account. She can expand the viewer and move through the slides.
01:13See time on each slide
Back in HummingDeck, open the presentation's Links tab. Sarah's link shows two views. Then open Analytics. Page Engagement shows the time recorded on each slide, and here the delivery timeline has the most. That's activity on Sarah's link, not proof she read it or wants to buy, but it shows where to start your follow-up. Detailed slide analytics start on Starter.
01:41Share more in a Room
Sharing more than a presentation? Put the deck, proposal and case study in a HummingDeck Room, and send one link to the whole set. Each document opens on its own. On Business, share links can use a custom domain, and the HummingDeck API can upload documents and create links. Share your presentation and track slide activity with HummingDeck.
