03 · Measurement

Definitions before interpretation

HummingDeck analytics are operational signals for follow-up. They are not a claim about a viewer's identity, intent, comprehension, or purchasing authority unless a separate control establishes that fact.

Bot detection combines known user-agent matching, hosting-network signals, and delayed client interaction for initially flagged sessions. It reduces common email-scanner noise but remains a classifier with limits.

Definitions for HummingDeck engagement measurements
Qualifying viewA recorded view session that is not currently classified as automated. Known bot user agents are rejected; hosting-network sessions start flagged and can be reclassified after supported client interaction.
Recorded page timeClient-reported active time associated with a page or section during a tracked session. Treat it as directional attention data, not proof that every word was read.
Page coverageThe share of available pages or sections reached during a session. It describes navigation coverage, not comprehension or intent.
Return sessionA later tracked session associated with the same share context. Privacy controls, device changes, forwarding, and access mode can affect attribution.
Personal-link activityActivity associated with the intended contact on a contact-specific link. The association does not prove that the intended person was the viewer because links can be forwarded.
Restricted-session emailAn address that completed the configured email-verification flow and matched the access policy. This verifies control of the inbox, not legal identity.
Additional-viewer signalA separate viewer or device signal observed on the same personal-link context. It can suggest internal sharing but does not identify an individual without a separate identity signal.
Bot flagA classification based on known user-agent patterns, hosting-network data, and supported client interaction. The filter reduces common scanner noise; no classifier catches every automated event or avoids every false positive.
