# HummingDeck — Complete Product Documentation > Sales deck sharing and engagement tracking platform. Share decks via trackable links, see who opens them, how long they spend on each page, and follow up at exactly the right moment. --- ## Overview HummingDeck is built for sales professionals — SDRs, Account Executives, and Sales Managers — who need to know exactly when and how to follow up with prospects. The core workflow is: 1. Upload a sales deck (PDF, PowerPoint, Word, Google Slides/Docs, interactive HTML, or a compatible static website ZIP) 2. Generate a trackable share link for a specific prospect or audience 3. Share the link via email, LinkedIn, Slack, or any channel 4. Get real-time notifications when prospects engage 5. See detailed analytics: time per page, completion rate, downloads, return visits 6. Follow up at the right moment with context about what they read The platform replaces dead email metrics (open tracking blocked by Gmail/Outlook) with engagement signals from shared documents — first-party, contact-level, real-time data. --- ## Engagement Tracking ### What Gets Tracked - **View sessions**: Who opened the deck, when, from where - **Time per page**: How long viewers spend on each slide - **Completion rate**: What percentage of the deck they viewed - **Session duration**: Total time spent viewing - **Downloads**: Whether the prospect downloaded the file - **Link clicks**: Which CTAs, buttons, and embedded links they clicked - **Return visits**: When prospects come back for a second (or third) look - **Device and browser**: What they're viewing on - **Geographic location**: City and country from IP geolocation ### Notification Options - **Email notifications**: Instant email when a prospect opens your deck - **Slack notifications**: Rich notification cards with viewer name, company, time spent, pages viewed, completion rate, and link clicks - Both can be toggled per-link independently --- ## Bot Detection ### The Problem Email security scanners (Microsoft SafeLinks, Proofpoint, Mimecast) open every link in emails before the recipient sees them. These scanners: - Navigate through multiple pages automatically - Spoof legitimate browser user agents - Run real Chromium browsers (indistinguishable from humans by fingerprinting) - Fire synthetic scroll and touch events Scanner sessions can inflate engagement metrics and trigger false notifications when they are treated as ordinary views. The scanner share varies by audience and email-security stack; HummingDeck does not publish a validated universal bot-rate benchmark. ### HummingDeck's Three-Layer Solution **Layer 1 — User Agent Matching** Checks known bot patterns including link preview bots, search crawlers, and monitoring services. Matching user agents are rejected before a normal view session is created. **Layer 2 — Datacenter IP Detection** Identifies requests originating from cloud hosting providers (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) where email security scanners operate. Sessions from datacenter IPs are flagged as bots but still recorded for inspection. **Layer 3 — Gesture-Based Session Confirmation** For sessions initially flagged by hosting-network detection, monitors client interaction signals including mouse movement, touch events, keyboard input, and scroll activity. Key design decisions: - 3-second delay before monitoring begins (SafeLinks fires synthetic events in under 500ms; real humans need at least 3 seconds to orient) - Only monitors hard-to-fake signals (mouse movement, touch, keyboard, scroll) — NOT page navigation, clicks, or downloads which bots simulate easily - Analyzes mouse trajectory characteristics: human movements have natural curves and deceleration; bot movements are geometric - When supported interaction evidence passes validation, the session can be promoted from bot-flagged to a normal view and the standard notification path can run No CAPTCHAs required. The system is invisible to viewers. ### Result Sessions that remain flagged as bots are excluded from normal analytics and notification paths but remain available for inspection. No classifier is perfect: unrecognized automation can pass through and a real viewer on a hosting network can remain flagged if confirmation does not complete. --- ## Share Link Management ### Link Types - **Personal links**: Sent to a specific contact. Viewer is identified by name and company. Used for 1:1 prospect engagement. - **Anonymous links**: Public share links for broad audiences. Can optionally require email capture before viewing. ### Per-Link Controls - **Download permission**: Allow or block PDF/file downloads (paid plans) - **Email capture**: Require viewers to enter email before accessing deck (Pro and above) - **Link expiration**: Set automatic expiration dates (paid plans) - **Slack notifications**: Toggle per-link (independent from email notifications) - **Email notifications**: Toggle per-link - **Link status**: Active or revoked — deactivate and reactivate anytime ### Bulk Link Generation - Upload a CSV with contact information (first name, last name, email, company, domain) - Auto-detect or manually map CSV columns - Generate up to 1,000 trackable links at once - Download results as enriched CSV with generated links - Automatically creates new contact and company records if not found in system - Also supports importing directly from Close CRM Smart Views --- ## Analytics Dashboard ### Team-Wide Metrics - Total views, unique viewers, average completion rate - Engagement trends over time (daily/weekly/monthly) - Activity heatmap: views by day of week and hour - Top performing decks by views, completion rate, and engagement ### Per-Deck Analytics - View timeline with individual sessions - Page-level engagement breakdown: time spent per slide - Viewer leaderboard: most engaged prospects - Geographic distribution of viewers (city/country level) ### Activity Feed - Chronological log of all deck views and downloads across the team - "My Links" and "All Links" tabs - Bot session filter toggle: show/hide filtered bot traffic - Click into any session for full engagement details --- ## Supported File Formats | Format | Details | |--------|---------| | PDF | Full page-by-page tracking | | PowerPoint (.pptx) | Converted for web viewing with slide-by-slide tracking | | Word (.docx) | Converted for web viewing | | Google Slides | Import via URL; converted for tracking | | Google Docs | Import via URL; converted for tracking | | HTML | Interactive documents with element-level click tracking | | HTML ZIP | Deployment-ready static websites with bundled runtime dependencies | Maximum file size: 100MB. Files are securely stored in Google Cloud Storage. ### Interactive HTML Decks HTML files support tracking of embedded interactive elements: - Multi-tier pricing proposals: see which tier/package prospects explore - Product configurators: track which options they select - Dynamic proposals: personalized content with tracked interactions - All clicks, navigation, and element interactions are recorded ### HTML ZIP Bundle Requirements HummingDeck accepts deployment-ready static website exports, not editable project or source-code archives. A compatible ZIP has: - One root-level `index.html` - Browser-ready HTML, CSS, and JavaScript - Every runtime asset and dependency included - Relative asset paths - All pages, links, and navigation preserved - No build step, package installation, or development server - A verified run from a static web server with no missing files or console errors - A maximum size of 100MB If a single standalone HTML export is available, prefer it. The canonical contract and reusable agent instruction are available at [HTML Bundle Export Requirements](https://hummingdeck.com/html-bundle-requirements.txt). --- ## Proposal Responses (Pro and Business Plans) Built-in decision capture for a shared document. This can replace an informal "reply to confirm" email, but it is not legal e-signature. **How It Works**: - Prospects can Accept, Request Changes, or Decline directly from the shared document viewer - Each decision includes optional notes from the prospect - Full timestamped audit trail of all decisions - Email, Slack, and CRM notifications on every response - Works on individual share links and inside digital sales rooms **What This Is Not**: Not legally binding e-signatures (like PandaDoc or DocuSign). This replaces the "can you reply to confirm?" email chain with a structured workflow inside the document. --- ## Digital Sales Rooms Shared rooms where you organize multiple documents, tracked URLs, supported embeds, and an action plan in one link. Every plan includes rooms within plan-specific limits; Pro adds Discussions, Restricted access, stakeholder signals, and proposal responses. Business adds custom branding, a custom domain, and the highest limits. **Features**: - Tabbed organization for proposals, contracts, case studies, pricing - Embedded content: Loom, YouTube, Calendly, Google Maps, and more - Mutual action plans with shared checklists and completion tracking - Proposal responses on Pro and Business - Per-stakeholder engagement analytics on Pro and Business - Company and personal share links with separate tracking - Bot detection applied to all room views --- ## Integrations ### Slack Integration (Pro and Business Plans) **Setup**: 3 clicks — workspace Settings, connect to Slack, select channel. **Rich Notification Cards Include**: - Deck title (links directly to analytics) - Viewer name and company (for personal links) - Time spent viewing - Pages viewed and completion rate - Link click count - One-click access to full analytics dashboard **Controls**: - Per-link toggle (on/off) - Single links: notifications ON by default - Bulk imports: notifications OFF by default (avoids spam) - Independent from email notifications **Why It Matters**: Slack notifications surface qualifying activity in the channel a sales team already monitors. ### Close CRM Integration (Pro and Business Plans) **Capabilities**: - Sync deck view events as Custom Activities in Close - Engagement data includes: timestamp, duration, pages viewed, completion rate - Import prospects from Close Smart Views for bulk link generation - Write share links back to custom fields in Close - Automatic contact and company matching/creation ### Zapier Integration (All Plans) - Connect document views, proposal decisions, and email captures to 8,000+ apps - Triggers: New Document View, Decision Made (accept/decline/request changes), Email Captured - Actions: Create Share Link, Upload Document - Searches: Find Document, Find Contact - OAuth 2.0 authentication ### Coming Soon - Attio CRM - Nutshell CRM - Capsule CRM --- ## Pricing Plans Current monthly USD list prices are below. Engagement is a directional signal, not proof of identity, intent, comprehension, or buying authority. ### The Content-Led Alternative 1. **Create valuable content** your prospects actually want (industry reports, competitive analyses, trend summaries) 2. **Share via trackable links** instead of relying only on email attachments 3. **Review engagement signals** such as qualifying sessions, page coverage, recorded time, and return activity 4. **Prioritize follow-up** using the full account context rather than one event 5. **Personalize follow-up** using observed content activity without overstating what the data proves ### The 20/80 Framework 1. Score accounts by deal size and strategic fit 2. Top 20%: custom, researched decks with personal links 3. Remaining accounts: reusable industry-relevant content 4. Review engagement over a team-defined observation window 5. Combine content activity with account fit and direct responses 6. Follow up according to the resulting priority and context --- ## Use Cases 1. **Sales Proposals** — Know when prospects open your proposal and which sections they revisit before the meeting 2. **Pricing Presentations** — See which pricing tier captures attention; tailor the follow-up call accordingly 3. **Case Studies** — Track which success stories resonate with each prospect; lead with what matters to them 4. **ABM Campaigns** — Share industry-specific content with target accounts; capture emails; measure engagement across the buying committee 5. **Client Deliverables** — Share reports, SOWs, and project documents; verify clients reviewed before meetings 6. **Investor Relations** — Track pitch-deck activity and use it as one input when prioritizing follow-up 7. **Interactive Proposals** — Multi-tier pricing, product configurators; see which options prospects explore --- ## Company Information - **Website**: https://hummingdeck.com - **AI Product Facts**: https://hummingdeck.com/for-ai - **Pricing**: https://hummingdeck.com/pricing - **Blog**: https://hummingdeck.com/blog - **Support**: https://hummingdeck.com/support - **Integrations**: https://hummingdeck.com/integrations - **Privacy Policy**: https://hummingdeck.com/privacy - **Terms of Service**: https://hummingdeck.com/terms
